Viking Consultant Group, LLC
Preparing You for the UnthinkableNobody expects it, but everyone should prepare for violence.
Company Overview
VCG – Capabilities Brief – 09-2021-V2
This training and security consulting company is different than others. We are the only company that specializes in areas that are extremely important in our society… law enforcement, our houses of worship, schools and commerce/businesses.
We concentrate our efforts in areas where it is vitally important to provide a skill set for those who want to make a difference and that is by saving lives. If what we do saves one life, our work is well worth it. Whether in our places of worship, schools or businesses, we take the time to show you how and what you do, can make a difference.
With violence growing in our country every day, there are some areas that should be safe from harm. With the ever growing threat, law enforcement officers and individuals should know what to do, when to do it and how to do it.
Our training is a comprehensive program that covers areas others don’t. As the CEO, I am very selective of who represents Viking Consultant Group. Our cadre of instructors are passionate about what we do and have a true heart to help our fellow man, woman and child. They are also the best of the best.
This is not a cookie cutter program. Understanding that not all facilities are the same size or have the same numbers, each course is fit to meet the needs of that specific institution.
Instructors come with over 20 years of real world extensive experience and not just a certificate after completing a 3 or 4 day course. Experience is where our instructors have gained their knowledge along with meeting high standards in their certifications. If you have any questions about my company, programs or instructors, I welcome your call and/or email.

TRAINING IMPORTANCE AND SELECTION OF A TRAINING COMPANY
Consider the following three points in determining the difference between relevant, realistic training and poor training.
- Do the Instructors have relevant experience in the topic(s)?
- Is the training supported by case law?
- Is the course accredited?
No single consideration stands alone, all three must be included in deciding if the company providing the training and the training itself is realistic and relevant.
Many companies and facilities providing training will rely on the first point alone touting their Instructors have “X” number of years on an agency or team or in a certain “industry.” As I’ve said many times, I know many people with 1 year of experience 20 times over, but fewer people with 20(+) years of experience 1 time…the type of experience does make a difference.
Regarding the second point, few companies and facilities will base their training on case law because it takes more time and effort, due to a lack of institutional knowledge, and they prefer to rely more on agency policy. Case law is the foundation on which law enforcement does their job. Not all departmental policies are the same and even if departmental policy is more restrictive than the law, case law still remains as the foundation. In today’s litigious society, it is not a matter of if a training company may be compelled to testify regarding their training but when. As such, it is imperative that training be based on case law.
The third point drives home the necessity for having a governing body to ensure training is vetted for consistency, relevance, and accuracy. As a private company, the Viking Consultant Group (VCG) cannot be vetted by a governing law enforcement accreditation entity. HOWEVER, VCG does employ a number of Instructors versed in the accreditation requirements of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) based at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and is committed to ensuring VCG training material adheres to those rigorous standards. As such, VCG is the only company utilizing Curriculum Design Committees and Curriculum Review Committees with the goal of designing relevant training and maintaining proper records. In so doing, VCG Instructors use the universally accepted Instructional Systems Design known as ADDIE (analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate).
For those trained by VCG, this means our programs are held to a high standard, are supported by case law, exceed nationally recognized training standards, and adhere to accreditation standards, which less than 3% of agencies achieve.
Good policies do not equate to effective policing, but proper training does promote effective policing. With ever shrinking training budgets and societies call for more police training, agencies need to know training content is relevant, backed by case law and the company providing the training stands ready to testify regarding the material. VCG is uniquely staffed by the best Instructors from varied backgrounds and agencies, which is why VCG is second to none.
